Moved the telly down the stairs to the living room/kitchen so that I could have Willy Wonka on in the background while constructing the trifle this afternoon.  In the evening carol singing whilst I put the venison goulash type thing together.

Finally got the wifi code in house sorted so that I could log in with my eReader and download stuff directly onto it.  Carin came with this heart-shaped reading lamp which I thought went well with this book. 


Have since discovered the joys of harvesting free classics from the internet and now have a small library available for taking on my next travels. Including 2 titles from Edith Wharton which would have been perfect for last years trip to run the marathon in Marakech - 'In Morocco' and 'The Long Run'.

Concert on the Vecht

Cycled along the Vecht in the evening to get to the old town house in Breukelen where Rianne and her cello were part of an evening of 'water themed' music performances.  (For more photos of the tea houses which inspired the orchestra's logo, see the photos I took on Monday morning when I ran back along the same route to collect the bike.)

Photographer was here to take photos of the house for the estate agent today.  A man who takes his work seriously - lots of different lighting effects were tried before he got an image that he was satisfied with.  Interesting to see what a difference having the flash in different places made.

Ok these photos were actually taken a week ago but I suspect another similarly dramatic thunderstorm is on its way tonight.

Since acquiring the rooms downstairs when Sabine moved out the other week I've dyed the old faded pinkyred velvet curtains I had with a grey dye in the hope of getting them to a shade that would go with the one darker-painted wall.  I'll admit to being very smug about the result.
